What is NAM?
NAM is an acronym for the Northumbria Advanced Motorcyclists, which is a local group of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). Unlike some IAM groups which cater for both cars and motorcycles (or cars only), NAM is a motorcycles only group.
NAM's IAM group number is 4245.
The objectives of the club are to...
- Encourage motorcyclists to have a positive attitude towards Road safety and to improve the general image of bikers to other road users
- Prepare motorcyclists for the Advanced Motorcycle Test
- Provide a social focal point for members to share their common interest
NAM is also a registered charity (1099238) and money we raise is donated to the charity of our choice which is currently the Great North Air Ambulance.
NAM was founded when the Durham Advanced Motorcyclists (DAM) supported a number of it's members who wanted to create a new group covering the Northumberland area.
